CitiKids
Helping families know and follow Jesus.
CitiKids is our ministry for children newborn through 3rd grade and their parents. During Sunday Gatherings, your kids will be supervised and taught about Jesus in an age-appropriate way.
CitiKids is comprised of the following rooms:
Baby Room – 6 weeks - 1 year
Toddler Room – 1’s
Lower Preschool Room – 2’s and early 3’s
Upper Preschool Room – 3’s and 4’s (Must be potty trained)
Elementary Room – 5 - 8 years old
CitiKids is staffed with experienced CitiKids volunteers who will make sure your kid is safe, has a great time and learns about Jesus. Our CitiKids areas are secured to ensure your child is safe during the Gathering. We hope this will allow you to focus during our Gatherings, knowing your child is hearing about Jesus in a kid-friendly manner.
CHECK-IN INFORMATION
Parent parking is available in the parking lot directly accessed by Lexington Ave. Look for the parent parking signs! Once you park, you can enter through the main YMCA entrance, marked by Citizens signs and flags. Once you come inside, you will see signs directing you to our downstairs kids space for our Baby, Toddler, and Lower Preschool Rooms and our upstairs kids space for our Upper Preschool and Elementary Rooms.
The space can be a little bit of a maze, so if you need any help just look for any of our volunteers wearing a lanyard, and they can help you find where to go!
CURRICULUM
CitiKids exists to teach kids that Jesus is the hero we all need. We want to lay a foundation of the good news of Jesus for families to build on back at home. We utilize the Gospel Project curriculum in our CitiKids ministry.
For more on the Gospel Project and additional resources, check out the link below. We also send a weekly email newsletter to parents with discipleship resources and a recap from each Sunday’s lesson. If you’d like to subscribe to that, you can do so the link below.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I bring for my child? Depending on the age of your child, be sure to bring diapers, pacifiers, a change of clothes, and a bottle of milk, formula, juice, or water. To help us keep track of your items, please label all personal items with your child's first and last names before arriving. On your first visit, we will also give you a CitiKids tag with which you can label your child’s bag if needed.
Can I volunteer with CitiKids? While we are always looking for more capable, passionate volunteers to join our CitiKids team, for safety precautions we require all CitiKids volunteers to be Citizens Church members. They also undergo a federal and state background check before serving. To explore membership at Citizens, check out the Weekender.
Who will be taking care of my child? CitiKids is run by volunteers committed to having fun, helping your child grow, and teaching them about Jesus. Each Sunday is overseen by trained coordinators and our Deacon of Kids and Families. Each team member has undergone a thorough federal and state background check prior to becoming a CitiKids volunteer.
What should I do if my child has food allergies? We strive to keep an allergy-safe environment at CitiKids. For the baby and toddler rooms, you may bring a snack for your child. For the preschool rooms and up, we serve a snack for kids. Please alert a CitiKids volunteer about your child’s allergies upon checking in, so that we can have it on record for the future.
What kind of activities happen during CitiKids? CitiKids will provide age-appropriate activities for all children. For newborns and small children, they'll be cared for and prayed over by a CitiKids volunteer. Lessons for older kids are reinforced by play and activities designed with the ability and age of the child in mind.
