SEEK FIRST: LIFE IN THE KINGDOM OF GOD

“The greatest issue facing the world today, with all its heartbreaking needs, is whether those who, by profession or culture, are identified as ‘Christians’ will become disciples – students, apprentices, practitioners – of Jesus Christ, steadily learning from Him how to live the life of the Kingdom of the Heavens into every corner of human existence.” – Dallas Willard

Over the past few years we’ve been exploring more and more the idea of the Kingdom of God – that is God’s active rule and reign in the world. But while on the one hand, the kingdom of God is this big, massive, earth-shattering reality; on the other hand, it also matters a great deal for the nooks and crannies of our lives.

If Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 6 – “Seek first the Kingdom of God” – and later said the Kingdom was like a mustard seed – the smallest of seeds that can turn into a giant tree. So what does all of this mean for us? What does it look like for us to learn how to live the life of the Kingdom into every corner of our existence.

What does seeking first the kingdom of God mean for my work? My parenting? My finances? My marriage or my singleness? My Saturdays?
