Lent 2024: Joining the Mission of God

As Christians, we live in a world that is not our home. As the popular phrase goes, “We’re in the world, but not of the world.” How then should we live? We live sent. We live missionally.

Although we may know these answers—and even agree with them— too often Christians live contrary to this. We live insulated lives, surrounded by those who only believe and think like us. We find ourselves disgusted with the surrounding culture, tempted towards self-righteousness, pride and resentment. Or we find ourselves defeated and apathetic, overwhelmed with the work to be done.

We see that God seeks us, calls us, and chases us down when we are his enemies. But now He calls us to do the same. To join Him in what He is doing to advance His kingdom across the world.

LENT PRACTICE GUIDE:

In Luke 6, Jesus says — “Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

We want to be doers of the Scriptures, and not hearers only. To that end, we have developed a practice guide that corresponds with the series, to help us take God’s Word and apply it into our lives.
